Your guest list, without typing it twice

The guest list almost never starts in OPHIRA. It starts in a spreadsheet your mother put together, in a note on your phone, or in your contacts. Typing it in by hand, name by name, is work nobody wants to do twice. Now you don't have to.

Bring it the way you have it

A spreadsheet (.xlsx), a CSV or your phone's contacts. The file is read in your browser, and only the rows you check are saved. If there are many (your whole address book, say), they arrive unchecked, so you pick who you're actually inviting.

If your columns have other names, you fix it right there. When OPHIRA can't find the name column, it asks you what each column holds; and from the review, "Change columns" lets you correct it whenever you want.

Nothing is saved until you've seen it. Each row says whether it's new or already on your list, and at the bottom, how many you'll add and how many you'll update. If someone shows up as new and isn't, you uncheck them.

With their families

Each person gets their own row. To say who they're coming with, the "Plus-one of" column holds their main guest's full name, exactly as it appears in the file, and the plus-one joins that same group. A "+1" at the end of a name saves a seat for a plus-one, even if you don't know yet who it will be.

Did your list arrive with everyone on their own? You can put it together afterwards: in each person's details, under "Plus-one of", or several at once with "Select". Whoever becomes someone's plus-one brings their own along.

Fixing many at once

With "Select" you check several people and open "Edit…": you change the side, the category or the RSVP for all of them at once. Checking a main guest also checks their plus-ones, and side and category move with the whole family.

And the numbers at the top now filter. Tap "Pending" and the list keeps only the people you still need to invite or follow up with; tap it again and everything comes back.

Two things we would rather tell you now

On an iPhone, the phone can't export the whole address book: you do it at icloud.com, from a computer. Android and Google Contacts export directly. The steps for all three are in the import window.

And a file doesn't change who someone already on your list is coming with: that's decided in their details. So importing again never undoes a family you already put together.

Where it is
